(okay I looked it up and the place is LITERALLY called infinity mountain, in english already, in the japanese version. like, well, a cauldron! NATURE IS SO COOL!!) Its quite interesting actually, its like what's left behind after a volcano completely goes kaput! A totally hollow mountain with a huge canyon in the middle. There's an actual type of mountain valley that's called a caldera, which literally translates to cauldron or dome but why would you literally translate it, its a caldera in english too. (okay thats a WEIRD difference! The only sort of logic I can think of that might connect the two is maybe the same translation mistake that made Heatran become 'the dome pokemon'. The area is completely different though, its more of a spiritual successor to the old one.) (I'm pretty sure thats a mistranslation of the english word ogre in romanji. (Its confirmed as literally the same place, apparantly it suddenly appeared through dimensions in this new area for reasons unknown. (Because everyone loves accidentally binning the best item in the game! Seriously, wtf is up with that name, yo?) (It got redesigned into a red smiley face, so possibly this is one of the names that might be different in japanese too?) Early on can be, especially if you play on Normal (although you can change it, so thats a non-issue. The new design for it in next order even has roulette wheel patterns!) (Both are totes misleading indifferent ways! According to an LP I read once, the original japanese is a pun that means 'lucky OR unlucky', because this item can either be a great happiness boost or poison you. This game gives me the warm fuzzy heart feelings! (even if everything else about the plot kinda sucks) Pointless additional factoid via TvTropes: Apparantly the japanese version didnt have any form of default name in the entry screen, so the fandom's nickname for him there was 'Analogboy'.Īdditional additional: Bunni was incredibly happy to see he grew up and became a cool teacher man and mentor to our new protagonist. Hiro -> MameoOr rather, we finally have an actual canon name for the protagonist of DW1! As far as I know, all of these had one single name in japanese, its just cos its a new translation team. Here are all the items/characters/etc I've found that had a name change. Kind of a dumb journal, but whatever! I've been enjoying this game but I didnt have much interesting to say about it so I figured I'd just list some fun trivia!
